What is the Gospel?

“The gospel is the good news that God sent his Son Jesus into the world rescue us from our sin and its consequences. Jesus provides the rescue we need because He lived the perfect life we could not live, and he died the death that we deserved as our substitute, and he rose victorious

from the grave (1 Corinthians 15:1-8). This gospel (or good news) is offered to everyone so that all who believe are saved from their sins (Romans 10:9-13). In response, Christians are to take the message of the gospel throughout the whole world, testifying to the glory and the grace of God (Matthew 24:14).”

LARRY BALDWINPASTOR
Larry Baldwin has served as pastor of HBC since 2006. He has served on staff at churches in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Illinois. Pastor Larry earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Southeastern Theological College in Wake Forest, NC; and a Master of Ministry from Anderson University in Anderson, SC. Larry and his wife Kim have two daughters, Jessica and Ali, and six grandchildren. Pastor Larry loves camping, bicycling, hiking, and spending time with family.
BILLIE JOE PAIGE
BILLIE JOE PAIGEMINISTER OF MUSIC
Billie Joe Paige has just begun serving as the Minister of Music at Hillcrest Baptist Church; however, she has been a member and serving at Hillcrest for more than 20 years. In high school she was a member of the Bears marching band where she played the saxophone. Billie Joe and her husband Greg have 3 adult daughters, Bailee and her husband Mitch, Emma and Mattison and a precious granddaughter, Jennie. She enjoys camping and spending time with her family. Billie Joe has a huge heart and a burning passion for serving the Lord through music and worship and she truly believes that where words may fail, music speaks.

When not involved in church activities, you might find Dwain spending time with his wife and daughter, or playing pick-up basketball, and occasionally out grabbing a cup of coffee with a friend.
LINDA BARRETT
LINDA BARRETTMINISTRY ASSISTANT
Linda joined the staff of HBC in January of 2018. She received her degree from Greenville Technical College as an Administrative Assistant. She was secretary at Alexander Elementary in SC. She served as Analyst/Specialist in Retail Accounting Center at Foot Locker Inc. in Pennsylvania for 28 years. Linda loves working with youth and children. She supports ministries that reach out to local and international needs.
